Koken Labs × Rucker Tax & Consulting
Scorecard · 2 Sep 2026

irstaxrelief.com, as it stands today.

Every finding below came from a direct crawl of all 68 pages in the site's sitemap. Nothing here is estimated — headers, markup and file sizes were measured, and the number is Koken Labs' rubric, so we show the working.

Critical

Technically alive, structurally invisible.

Every page loads and the sitemap is clean — this isn't a broken site. It's one that was built in 2014 and never revisited. The parts search engines read first are mostly absent, which is the cheapest kind of problem to have: most of the lost points are missing markup, not bad architecture.

Critical 5 findings · fix first

Each of these is currently working against the pages that bring in clients.

Duplicate site

HTTP never redirects to HTTPS

http://irstaxrelief.com/ returns a full copy of the site and declares itself the canonical version. That makes the whole site eligible to be indexed twice. Google usually settles on the secure version, but every signal is split until a one-line redirect is in place — we'll confirm in Search Console what it actually chose.

32 pages · all 15 service pages

No <h1> on any service page

32 of 68 pages have no primary heading at all. Fifteen of those are the service pages — Offer in Compromise, IRS Liens, Levies, Wage Garnishment, Audit Representation, Penalty Abatement, Innocent Spouse, Back Taxes, Payroll Tax and the rest. The homepage's only H1 is on a button.

62 of 68 pages

No meta descriptions

91% of the site has no <meta name="description">. Google writes its own snippet from whatever it finds first — which on these pages is a phone and fax number. That suppresses clicks even where the page does rank.

5.6 MB

The homepage ships 5.6 MB of unoptimised 2014 screenshots

Nine images, none lazy-loaded, none in a modern format, several far larger than their display size. One credential photo is 1.7 MB on its own. Compressing and converting these should remove roughly 90% of the weight with no visible change.

Analytics stopped three years ago

The site runs the old Universal Analytics tag (UA-75747128-1). Google retired that product in July 2023 and nothing replaced it — no GA4, no Tag Manager. There is no traffic or enquiry data for the last three years, and no way to measure whether any fix works until this is replaced.

Structured data

The business-listing markup contradicts the page

Structured data is present on all 68 pages, but the block is wrong in four ways: the business name field contains a URL, every address inside it is http://, the social links include a dead Google+ profile and five empty entries, and the phone number differs from the one shown on every page.

"name": "http://irstaxrelief.com/" ← should be the business name "url": "http://irstaxrelief.com/" ← http, not https "telephone": "8004684135" ← site shows 801-857-8437 "sameAs": [ …, "", "https://plus.google.com/…", "", "", "" ]

If the 800 number is a live tracking line, it stays and the two get reconciled. If not, the mismatch is a local-ranking liability. No Service, FAQPage or BreadcrumbList markup exists on any page.

28 pages

Service pages are too thin to compete

28 pages sit under 300 words. The pages that rank for these terms typically run 1,200 to 2,000.

PageTermWords
/bankruptcy/tax debt bankruptcy88
/irs-payment-plan/IRS payment plan90

Intent overlap

Seven pages compete for the same search

Word-level overlap between these pages tested low — but only because they're too thin to overlap, not because they're differentiated. By intent, seven pages chase one query, and one pair is a direct duplicate. Consolidate to one page per intent after reading Search Console history, so the surviving page is the one Google already prefers.

/irs-liens/ vs /help-with-irs-liens/ same intent /irs-problems/ /tax-problems/ /support-for-irs-problems/ /tax-relief-solutions/ /tax-irs-relief/ /irs-tax-support/ /get-irs-help/ └─ seven pages, one query cluster: “IRS tax help / tax relief”
Caching

No browser caching on any asset

The server sends no Cache-Control or Expires header on HTML or images, so returning visitors re-download the full 5.6 MB every visit. Gzip is active on stylesheets — compression is half-configured.

Mixed content

Six assets are hard-coded to http:// on an HTTPS page

Five images and one TeamViewer link load over plain HTTP, which browsers block or flag. A database search-and-replace fixes it.

Titles

24 titles are too long and truncate in results

Every title appends “| Rucker Tax & Consulting”, pushing 24 of them past the ~60-character display limit; the longest is 91. On the plus side, all 68 titles are unique.

Opportunities 5 findings

Content

The blog has been dormant since May 2014 — and it's off-topic

All 22 posts were published in one month twelve years ago, and the subjects — ATM fees, life insurance, the nanny tax, saving for college — are generic financial-planning boilerplate that never mentions the IRS. A sitewide re-save in April 2026 refreshed the sitemap dates without changing any content. These posts pull topical focus away from the work the practice actually does.

Internal linking

Every internal link comes from the menu — none from the content

All 15 service pages have exactly 68 inbound links, meaning they're in the global navigation on every page and linked from nowhere else. Nothing signals that any one page matters more than another.

Sharing

30 pages have no preview image when shared

30 pages lack an og:image and 33 lack an og:description, so a link shared to Facebook or LinkedIn renders as bare text.

Mobile

Small text and pinch-zoom disabled

Testimonial and credential copy renders at 14px against a 16px minimum, nine links fall under the 44×44px touch guideline, and the viewport tag sets user-scalable=0, which blocks zoom — an accessibility failure that's a one-word fix.

Platform

PHP 7.4 stopped receiving security patches in November 2022

Not a ranking factor, but a compromised site is an unranked one. The upgrade can break a 2014 theme, so it needs a backup and a staging copy first — not a live-site experiment.

Already working 8 checks

  • Image alt text is genuinely good — 208 of 209 images carry descriptive alt attributes. Rare at this level; someone cared.
  • Clean crawl. All 68 URLs return 200. No broken internal links, no redirect chains, no orphan pages, no accidental noindex.
  • Sitemap and robots.txt correctly configured — a proper index at /sitemapindex.xml, referenced from robots, split by content type.
  • Canonical tags on every page, correct on the HTTPS site.
  • All 68 titles unique — no duplicates anywhere.
  • Mobile layout holds — no horizontal scroll at 375px; one minor overflow in a slider caption.
  • The server is fast — 0.51 s to first byte. The slowness is payload, not hosting.
  • 404s return a real 404, and www and non-www resolve to the same host.

Fix order by impact per hour

The first six are configuration and copy, not content projects. Effort figures are our working estimates, not commitments.
